Britgirl goes Home

Back to Jolly ole England for the Xmas hols and what fun was had.....
We started in London meeting some friends there and making the most of the new licensing laws. Pubs can stay open 24 hours now in an effort to curb the binge drinking.
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Don't think I saw much evidence of it working but Im not complaining.

Our first night we spent visiting my sister, niece and brother-in-law....As usual Karl was left in the dust with the drinking by John...you just can't compete with a squadie !!!

Next night met with Lucy, simon, Amanda and Leesha and took them to the Absloute Ice bar by Regents street. Was great. They gave us trendy silver capes with fur lined hoods and big gloves. We needed them too as it was bloody freezing...the whole place was solid ice...the walls, the tables, the stools(brrr) the bar the shot glasses...there was even an ice bottle that you could stand inside. Well worth the 12 quid to get in.
Our London days were spend shopping and sightseeing and the nights spent drinking, eating and clubbing !!
Ahhhhh...who said english food was dull?? We had steaks in Kensington, Indian from Brick lane, and a wonderful Italien down soho to name but a few.
The Italien sticks in my memory as a great night....six friends chatting by candlelight...ravioli,grappa,tiramasu,wine.....the dinner lasted hours and we didn't even get thrown out when Amanda pinched the waiters bum.

For the hard core clubbing we did Turnmills, a favourite of mine. Steve Lawler was spinning a 4 hour set but the place was soooo crowded it made any dancing tough. Still atmosphere was electric.
Karl got his museum fix with a whistlestop tour of the V and A as well as British museum...and I got to shop at Harrods and Spitalfields market.

Next was up to Gainsborough for time to visit family and friends up that neck of the woods. I went out Xmas eve in Gainsborough with Helene, Paul and Jamie (karl was still recovering from the club night) and that was fun as usual....tacky pubs, Xmas music, lots trashed folk and then the traditional chips and cheese from helenes "chicken man" aka the Kebab shop.
Only one fight (that I saw) this time...not bad at all for Gainsborough..maybe the extra hours are helping after all.

Thank goodness this year I didn't get too ill to enjoy my Xmas dinner the next day. Yummy.
Mum and Dad made great big prtions of food and all washed down with screw top wine.....can't beat it !!
Whilst up at home we spent a day in Lincoln, visited the relatives, Karl got to sit on a tractor !! Me and Helene went shopping (in the snow) and also to visit Yvettes new boxing day baby. We had quite a bit of snow all in all and made the raods really slippy. We went one night to Scunny for dinner and paul was all over the road...slipping from one side to the other. But we made it and because of the weather almost had the whole place to outselves.

Too sad saying goodbye again...we left Gainsborough a day earlier then planned because of the weather....we had a flight to catch to Amsterdam !!!!!!
